Diabloskinz has partnered with nfinity eSports Racing for the 2011 iRacing.com Pro Series, ensuring themselves a top driver that can provide results in the Diabloskinz car. Kenneth O'Keefe has been proving himself in all fields of racing from Road and Oval over the years, this has given him the skills he needs to contend at such a professional standard of sim racing. He is proof that with hard work and lots of practice, any championship can be in your grasp.
Twenty five of the top drivers participating within the series will be promoted into the World Championship Series and will be given the chance to compete for the $15,000 purse and the title of World Champion. Kenneth is the only driver running a Diabloskinz powered car, and they have proven their potential with Kenneth locking himself a solid pole position in qualifying. Diabloskinz has proven to be quite the motivator for the Rookie Pro series driver, as Kenneth led 60 laps in the season opener at Texas Motorspeedway.
During week one of the pro series Kenneth put himself on pole position, with many tough competitors breathing down his back. But this is nothing abnormal for Kenneth as he has raced against the best and prepared for this throughout all of his racing career. Kenneth has lots of real life racing experience, providing him with an unfounded knowledge of race craft and skills for him to bring into effect during the races.
Off the line Kenneth would pull himself a gap, with the leaders only a few tenths behind all fighting closely for position. There would be many cautions in the start of this race which would challenge Kenneth as race leader. The most demanding caution came on lap 60 when Kenneth came down pitlane to serve his first stop for fuel and tyres, Kenneth pitted on green while his other competitors served their stop under yellows as a result of the accident while Kenneth was in his pitbox, dropping Kenneth to 25th and 1 lap down on the front runners.
Kenneth's next stint would see him have to battle his way back up the field, avoiding slower cars and more yellow flag cautions to leap his way back up to 15th before his next scheduled pitstop. On lap 120 another safety car period befell the field and granted everyone a yellow flag pitstop, Kenneth sped down pitlane for his final pit service of the night earning himself a stop and go penalty, he rejoined the pack in 19th place as they awaited for the green flag to drop.
The race commenced two laps later and Kenneth wasted no time in carving his way up the field, each lap picking off his rivals and gaining time on the front runners in a splendid display of driving to move up to 15th before the final caution of the race on lap 133.
The race continued on the 135th lap and Kenneth got back into his rhythm and picked off more positions to eventually finish just outside the top ten in 12th, picking up solid points for the championship while his main rivals had a torrid race resulting in DNF's.
Kenneth was pleased with his result but was left feeling deflated after having a race winning car lost to a unfortunate caution on his first pitstop, but it was a excellent drive for Kenneth to come back from 1 lap down to gain himself 12th and solid points for the championship.
We can definitely look forward to seeing more from Kenneth in the future rounds as the season gathers speed, if you wish to follow Kenneth more closely then please go and check out his website www.kennethokeefe.net.
Kenneth would like to thank Diabloskinz for their awesome support and Sim Chassis for the excellent car setup, not to mention nfinity eSports Racing team and all its sponsors for all the hard work. Thank you.
