Round one of the Original LFS League headed to the cloudy english track of Blackwood GP in the LX4 and nfinity's Bela Perei has started his campaign by claiming the winners step of the podium.
Qualification :
As for all the first races Gianni and Bela started practicing in the last hours before the deadline and despite the lack of practice time Bela's lap was good enough for the pole posistion in Pool One while Gianni qualified himself into Pool Three.
Race Practice :
After the qualify deadline has pasted the team had two days to prepare for raceday. Bela had to go home which meant he would only get back 2-3 hours before race on Sunday. Sadly Gianni couldn't make it to the race since his train home was delayed. Luckily Bela's train wasn't so he had some time to improve on the set for the race.
"I just couldn't get the balance right. What I thought I did after a few laps I realised it's the same time. Still, I was able to do 1:22.4x during practice, so it didn't look too bad after all. What didn't look good was the weather which was set to cloudy afternoon, I only realised this when I joined the server 5 mins before the race. It doesn't sound like much but I don't remember when I last drove in this weather setting. Last sector looked completely different inthis weather. Somehow it was really hard to judge where to turn in at the last corner. Since I couldn't convince them it's not good for my eyes, I had to deal with it." Bela Perei
Race :
When the lights turned green it turned out that Bela's 1st and 2nd gears wasn't the best and Conquest Racing's Adrian Tomczyk had managed a much better start catching up on Bela into turn one. Adrian also managed to get good drive out of turn one but he had some massive understeer and struggled to correct the car. Bela held the tight inner line coming into the chicane complex with Adrian still there next to him, but Bela was on the ideal line into the chicane and didn't back off keeping his line. Adrian had lift to give Bela the racing line and Bela then held his posistion until the chequered flag with Adrian close on his heels in 2nd.
"Set didn't really work as planned, but still managed to get a comfortable gap in the early laps. Don't know if it was the weather or the set, but the car was quite nervous coming out of turn one and the last corner. I managed to get the fastest lap as well, so I put race 1 behind me with maximum points and look forward to race 2!" Bela Perei
