Round One of the series saw drivers running a 30min race with the HPD ARX-01C cars at the beautiful and iconic Spa-Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium,  the top 20 drivers that qualified for the regional final included nfinity eSport’s very own Kenneth O’Keefe from Eastern Canada.  Kenneth claimed the top spot in dominating style with Lowland Lion’s PJ Stergios (New England) finishing 2nd and Time Racing Club’s Ken Leach (New York) just behind in 3rd place.
The other 17 drivers that Qualified was Ryan Terpstra (Michigan), George Sandman (Calfifornia), Phillip Diaz (Florida), Wyatt Gooden (Ohio), Kevin Parrish (Indiana), Andrew Slowcombe (Florida), Jake Stergios (New England), Gary Borkenhagen (MidWest), Etienne Leger (Eastern Canada), Austin Cobb (MidSouth), Kevin Riley (MidWest), Loren Bateman (Plains), Shawn Murphy (Texas), David Hudson (Virginias), Nick Neben (Plains), Chuck Johnson (MidSouth) and Sean Scott (Indiana).

The Regional Final was held on the following weekend and Ken Leach took the pole spot with a time of 2:02.413 with PJ Stergios biting Ken’s bumper in 2nd place with a 2:02.416 and his brother Jake Stergios in 3rd with a 2:02.575.  nfinity’s Kenneth O’Keefe could only manage a 2:02.634 to put him 4th place on the grid and a lot of work to do in the race.

The race got underway with Kenneth and Jake Stergios going two abreast into Eau Rouge on lap 1 which resulted in slight contact, sending Jake into the wall and kenneth sliding up Eau Rouge as he regained control of his HPD ARX. a few turns later and the leaders battled hard forcing kenneth to run off line, giving ex nfinity esports and RSR’s Wyatt Gooden the chance to take 3rd from Kenneth and chase down PJ Stergios.
The top 4 then proceeded to stay calm and put some warmth into their tyres for the next few laps until Wyatt Gooden misjudged PJ Stergios’s braking and rear ended his car resulting in both cars spinning off and granting Kenneth the lead of the race with a comftable lead over the following pack.
Kenneth started to put his head down with the clean track in front and was not going to be stopped as he lead the race right to the cheqered flag to claim the top step of the podium,  taking home the winners prizes and a ticket to the grand final in March at the Intel Extreme Masters Championship.

Kenneth O’keefe and Diabloskinz make their debut into the iRacing.com NASCAR Pro Series Championship.

Diabloskinz has partnered with nfinity eSports Racing for the 2011 iRacing.com Pro Series, ensuring themselves a top driver that can provide results in the Diabloskinz powered car. Kenneth has been proving himself in all fields of racing from Road and Oval over the years, this has given him the skills he needs to contend at such a professional standard of sim racing. He is proof that with hard work and lots of practice, any championship can be in your grasp.

Twenty five of the top drivers participating within the series will be promoted into the World Championship Series and will be given the chance to compete for the $15,000 purse and the title of World Champion. Kenneth O’keefe is the only driver running a Diabloskinz powered car, and they have proven their potential with Kenneth locking himself a solid pole position in qualifying. Diabloskinz has proven to be quite the motivator for the Rookie Pro series driver, as Kenneth led 60 laps in the season opener at Texas Motorspeedway.

During week one of the pro series Kenneth put himself on pole position, with many tough competitors breathing down his back. But this is nothing abnormal for Kenneth as he has raced against the best and prepared for this throughout all of his racing career. Kenneth has lots of real life racing experience, providing him with an unfounded knowledge of race craft and skills for him to bring into effect during the races.

Off the line Kenneth would pull himself a gap, with the leaders only a few tenths behind all fighting closely for position. There would be many cautions in the start of this race which would challenge Kenneth as race leader. The most demanding caution came on lap 60 when Kenneth came down pitlane to serve his first stop for fuel and tyres, Kenneth pitted on green while his other competitors served their stop under yellows as a result of the accident while Kenneth was in his pitbox, dropping Kenneth to 25th and 1 lap down on the front runners.

Kenneth’s next stint would see him have to battle his way back up the field, avoiding slower cars and more yellow flag cautions to leap his way back up to 15th before his next scheduled pitstop.

On lap 120 another safety car period befell the field and granted everyone a yellow flag pitstop, Kenneth speeded down pitlane for his final pit service of the night earning himself a stop and go penalty, he rejoined the pack in 19th place as they awaited for the green flag to drop.

The race commenced two laps later and Kenneth wasted no time in carving his way up the field, each lap picking off his rivals and gaining time on the front runners in a splendid display of driving to move up to 15th before the final caution of the race on lap 133.

The race continued on the 135th lap and Kenneth got back into his rhythm and picked off more positions to eventually finish just outside the top ten in 12th, picking up solid points for the championship while his main rivals had a torrid race resulting in DNF’s.

Kenneth was pleased with his result but was left feeling deflated after having a race winning car lost to a unfortunate caution on his first pitstop, but it was a excellent drive for Kenneth to come back from 1 lap down to gain himself 12th and solid points for the championship.

We can definatly look forward to seeing more from Kenneth in the future rounds as the season gathers speed.

Kenneth would like to thank Diabloskinz for their awesome support and sim chassis for the excellent car setup, not to mention nfinity eSports Racing team and all its sponsors for all the hard work. Thank you all.

Kelvin Van Der Linde Takes the MX5 iRacing.com Grand Touring Cup Championship

The iRacing.com Grand Touring Cup championship has finished its 3rd season of 2011 and nfinity eSport’s South African, Kelvin Van Der Linde has lifted the MX5 Title in dominating Style ahead of Frenchman Renaud Jouanny from Team-Bam & Finland’s Joni Hagner from TDRT to claim his first iRacing.com series title in his short career within the simulator.

Kelvin has shown remarkable talent for his young age to battle against established simulator drivers to take the title, which must come from the experiance gained from racing production cars in his native South Africa with the Ferado Racing Team with his 12yr old Brother Sheldon.  Kelvin is re-writing the history books in the 2011 Pro Tour Roadshow by becoming the youngest driver to gain pole position in his first ever Class A event at the age of 15yr old,  then taking a double victory at Zwartkops Raceway to be crowned the youngest Overall Goldwagen Challenge Champion in 22 years of series just last week.

Sheldon Van Der Linde also finished impressivly within the top five of the MX5 championship in 5th place,  Sheldon steadily worked his way through the season picking up points to keep him in contention,  but it was not till the last races of the season when Sheldon decided to give it his all and become a threat to the championship contenders by starting to move up the standings rapidly.

Sheldon has amazing talent for his young age thanks to generations of racing Van Der Linde’s and has claimed the GP Junior and Mini Max National Titles aswell as a double regional karting champion so we can definatly expect more from the little man as he matures in the future.

Just yesterday,  young Sheldon had a dominating last round to claim yet another Karting Championship to his name. Sheldon took all the wins in the 3 heat battle apart from the last one which he was forced out from due to mechanical issues.

nfinity eSports Manager Simon Hill also had a good season to slide into the top ten of the MX5 championship,  Simon had a fun and exciting season racing with the Van Der Linde brothers and he looks forward to chasing the youngsters in the coming seasons.

Simon and both the Van Der Linde brothers would like to thank nfinity eSports Racing and its sponsors Bigpond, Diabloskinz, TserverHQ and Jakacom for their continuing support.
